what the heck is up with the skylight?
the last tuesdays post on the skylight debacle was saturday, 7/11. artsy schmartsy has been skylight silent since thursday 7/9. the journal/sentinal'stom strini since friday fish fry.
What's missing from the Skylight's strategy, other than common sense, is creativity. It's creativity that solves problems, it's creativity that fosters innovation, it's creativity that makes art.
Management devoid of creativity is not good in any industry, but especially in an industry born from creativity.
How is Jamie sounding crazier? the boom is not a reference to anything happening other than the board self imploding by the lack of action, (or atleast that we know of) correction by the lack of courage to do what needs to be done, bring back the artistic dept and box office and remove someone else.
I know artists have been having one-on-one meetings with Eric, either in person or on the phone, just to see who is still on board for next season. So he's doing that this week, which I guess is important. I wonder if they are still doing the summer cabaret series...
Becky got a call from Eric, asking that she schedule a meeting with him. She had previously pulled out of the cabaret series, for which she hadn't yet received a contract. Tommy Hahn had a face-to-face meeting with Eric yesterday. Supposedly about contract negotiations. The artist fee has been lowered even further it seems to me than the originally announced 10% cut. Andy Willkowske I believe had a phone meeting with Eric, same thing. I don't know about his fee. Other than that, I understand that Gary Briggle and John Muriello have pulled out of the G&S show scheduled for the end of the year, and I believe Richard Carsey has too. I'm wondering if Pam Kriger is still planning on directing. I also heard that Jon Stewart removed himself from the Barber chorus. That's all I know now. If people have other info, I'm definitely interested.
Very interesting, Skylight's latest step. More behind the scenes firings (of chorus members) handled not by Dillner but by Hefty, and attempts made to squelch my unemployment request. I don't think they even have an interest in saving the company. Now they just want take pot shots at the community that "hurt" them. I never publicly attacked the Skylight. I tried to preserve it.
I'm hoping this is the quiet before the storm...we've been promised some public forums and we are looking forward to their announcements.
