As the MSM struggles to make money, expect more and more of this. The golden era of blogging and linking and open discussion may be coming to an end. The suits are terrified of it. And their bottom line is not the dissemination of ideas or facts, but the making of money. If they have to lose readers but make money, they're happy.
Wouldn't it be great if Tony got a Pulitzer for his Skylight coverage? Solidarity!
ReplyDeleteI second, third, fourth and millionth that opinion -- how do we get him nominated?
ReplyDeleteAt the very least, Tony deserves commendations from the Milwaukee Press Club and the various unions representing the various artists and technicians affected by this situation. Also a special award from the Caring About Skylight & Watching All This From Afar & Trying To Understand Society (CASWATFATUS).
ReplyDeletei read another article on this that staed that only Congress can determine rights of use. Not the media outlets themselves.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, didn't the NYTimes try charging for it's online news site? They saw a huge decrese in readership, no one subscribed, and they lost $$$ in advertising revenue due to the low readership. Sad that the AP has become another corporate-style run organization commiting suicide.
Wait - the visionarys will appear, I'm confident. The "suits" are operating on an old model.
