taking grassley's advice

back in march, iowa senator chuck grassley quite seriously suggested folks at AIG and the like, "follow the Japanese model and come before the American people and take that deep bow and say I’m sorry, and then either do one of two things — resign, or go commit suicide.

on tuesday night, freddie mac's interim chief financial officer david kellermann, took grassley's advice to heart.

  1. you know me well enough, tony, to know i'd usually jump on this and say, "way to go". but as this guy wasn't the CEO when freddie mac initially got into trouble, i'm holding off on my cheering. yes - he was with the company for 16 years or so and was probably had some sort of high-level job before he became interim CEO.

i suppose i could say, "he knew what he was getting into when he took the interim job". i'd rather see the former CEO of freddie mac hung, actually.

  2. This is sad, man. Grassley's off his nut or he's just showboating. This is not part of our culture. No matter how badly this guy f-ed up, I doubt seriously that it should have cost him his life. As a senior manager responsible for the livelihood of a lot of people, sh*t like this hits home with me, sorry guys.
