a cure for...oh, say, blindness

scientists in the u.k, unhampered by the u.s. dogmatic response to utilizing embryonic stem cells in medical research, have what some may view as very good news:

"British scientists have developed the world’s first stem cell therapy to cure the most common cause of blindness. Surgeons predict it will become a routine, one-hour procedure that will be generally available in six or seven years’ time."

might one assume that patients who are opposed to such research would then refuse treatment or therapy discovered or developed through it's use?
