maureen dowd calls out the south

in sunday's new york times:
This president is the ultimate civil rights figure — a black man whose legitimacy is constantly challenged by a loco fringe.

For two centuries, the South has feared a takeover by blacks or the feds. In Obama, they have both.

  1. Perhaps I'm splitting hairs, but there are an awful lot of us down here in the South who don't deserve to be lumped into MoDo's blanket statement. We just don't yell as loudly.
