CONCORD – The House and Senate today passed a compromise that Gov. John Lynch insisted he needs before he signs a gay marriage bill into law.
By a vote of 14-10 in the Senate and 198-176 in the House, the changes in HB 73 create the last piece of a gay marriage puzzle that the Legislature has assembled.
Lynch spokesman Colin Manning said the governor plans to sign the package of gay marriage bills today. The bill, HB 73 (text), is an add-on to the gay marriage bill itself, HB 436 (text), and to HB 310 (text), which made technical changes to the main bill.
