joe watkins can blow me

joe watkins (pastor of the christ evangelical lutheran church in philadelphia; a key non-lawyer member of the government relations practice at buchanan ingersoll, a major national law firm; former associate director in the office of public liaison at the white house under president george h. w. bush; former assistant state director for u.s. senator dan quayle) is on msnbc blathering on and on about rev. jeremiah wright, and how wright shouldn't be giving news conferences -- this is hurting barack obama -- wright is at the least divisive and at the worst offensive -- if i'm a white working class voter and i see this guy on t.v. i will never...

woah, hold on.

first of all, joe, you're NOT a white, working class voter. you don't really know what it's like to be one, just like i will never know what it's like to be at the same time pastor of an african american church AND a republican strategist. i'm not sure how you have time to be a pastor, joe, since you're constantly on television in your republican strategist role. you criticize jeremiah wright for his politics, saying a pastor's job is to preach the gospel of jesus christ, but that's not what are you doing on television. what do your parishioners think about that? maybe we should ask them. all 85 of them. (about as many people read this blog on a regular basis.)

joe, whatever you think of rev. wright and his past sermons (or the endless youtube clips of them) he's on television speaking to bill moyers, addressing the detroit NAACP, and giving a "news conference" this morning because people like you can't stop talking about him. if you were talking about me that much I'D BE GIVING A NEWS CONFERENCE. why don't you tell msnbc that we should be talking about the poor, or talking about health care, or talking about war...oh wait. you're perfectly happy to talk about this because you're a republican.

here's my two cents: if the voters actually listen to wright's speech at the NAACP and at the national press club conference this morning they might find they actually AGREE with much of what he has to say. and in the end (i'm gonna go out on a limb here) i bet that his speaking out is actually gonna HELP obama. why? all the pundits on cable news (including blowhard watkins) are sniping about how wright's re-appearance is absolutely going to hurt him. and we all know how right those pundits always are.

(btw - thanks to my friend jeff for the post title)

  2. I swooped through here from African American Political Pundit's blog to see what you had to say.

Your remarks are well said! I am glad to see that people with common sense and a keyboard are posting intelligent remarks on the subject of Rev. Wright.

  3. I came to this blog because I just got fed up with watching Joe Watkins on MSNBC while I was trying to eat my lunch. I'm an African-American preacher and Joe is simply a puppet they need to bring out and derail Obama. I live in Philly and just when I thought I had enough of this campaign the press brought Jeremiah Wright back. They never focus on the validity of his attacks on US policy. Watkins had nothing to say when Dick Cheney said "so what" when told americans are against the war. See now I feel better because I realize that I'm not losing my mind when people like Watkins etal pontificate about trivial bull and the whole country is falling apart around us. People are desperate and their desperation is escalating. But Joe Blow Hard Watkins and his kind wouldn't care about that they just want face time and listen to themselves droan on and on...

  4. OK...I know you wrote about that moron Joe Watkins months ago, but I just minutes ago listened to him on MSNBC defending the Repugs latest ad about Obama and sex education and also the lipstick on pigs comment.
Ugh....I never liked the guy and now I hate him. He should be ashamed to claim to be a minister....not that by simply being a minister means you are a good person...LOL
    He's a asshole....
Anyway...I found your blog doing a search for him, for what it's worth:-)

  5. Joe Watkins simply misrepresents the truth regarding Joe McCain. It seems that he is just a puppet for the "good old boys club". Joe Watkins distorts the truth on so many issues and supports John McCain. I will not watch him and I don't think his education allows him to be much of an expert on anything save for "How to be a puppet for dummies".

  7. THIS IS MY FIRST TIME HEARING OR EVEN SEEING YOU AND AFTER 2 MINUTES I AM SICK OF LISTENING TO YOU I CAN'T NOT BELIEVE MY EARS WHAT PLANET DID COME FROM? HOW CAN YOU SAY THAT MCCAIN IS NOT RUFFLESS NOT ONLY IS HE BEING RUFFLESS BUT HE IS ALSO SLINGING PLENTY OF MUG WHICH LOOK LIKE WHAT YOU ARE DOING TO OBAMA, AND YES OBAMA WAS EIGHT YEARS OLD WHEN AYERS DID HIS DIRTY WORK, WHAT? PEOPLE CAN'T CHANGE IF ANYBODY SHOULD KNOW THAT I FIGURE YOU WOULD BEING A PASTOR JUST LIKE MYSELF. SO WHAT IF HIS CAREER STARTED IN THE PRESENCE OF AYERS HOME. THIS MAN AYERS HAS GONE ON TO A SUCCESSFUL CAREER. WHICH IS NOT MUCH TO SAY ABOUT YOU.

  8. Joe Watkins said today that Rush Limbaugh shouldn't apologize to President Obama for comparing him to Hitler because it's a free country. I guess if Rush called him the N word that would be OK? Joe is nothing but an Uncle Tom kiss ass along with Alan Keys and Mr. Steele.

  9. This character was just on MSNBC and he makes me sick. Him and a few others are a disgrace to their race. I know everyone is entitled to their own opinion but to push lies is very wicked. Joe is wicked the people (the soggy teabaggers) that he defends are evil. My only words to him is from God (Psalm 41:21)..Evil will slay the wicked. I'm really do regret that I marched in the 60's for hateful people like him. But I am thankful that people like our president will benefit from it. Black people will rise to better themsevles inspite of wicked people like joe watkins. He will never get very far in life. Thanks for a spot to vent.
