snackless idol wrap-up

first of all, american idol should never let kelly pickler sing on the show ever, ever, ever...ever again. ever. never ever.

second, scott macintyre. whoo! i got a little teary.

and then i thought, couldn't they have found, like, a really drop dead amazing blind guy? and i do mean drop dead good looking, i don't care what he sings like.

all that back and forth at the end, that was so not real. they know they have to keep that save for danny or allison or matt, right? simon made the right decision. bye scott. good to...er...see ya.

sneak peak: tv tryouts!

here's a sneak peak at some tryouts for an upcoming tv commercial you're gonna be seeing real soon! the actual finished tv commercial is at the bottom, and it looks really awesome!

it's fun to see who got picked and who didn't! (sorry guys! maybe next time!) personally, i hate tryouts! they always make me so nervous! but these guys all seem really prepared! good luck everyone! i mean (duh!) break a leg!

more information about (and fisking of) the actual ad here.

those crazy canucks!

from the comments, regarding gay marriage's threat to...uh...non-gay marriage. aaron writes:
"Here in Canada, the homos have been getting married for years and they're quite humble. But this is Canada.

Oddly enough, Amy and I remain happily married even as gay and lesbian couples right and left tie the knot. Maybe we're just not fully taking in the reality of the situation. Of course, our diocese is working on a rite for the blessing of same-sex unions.

Maybe THAT will end western civilization as we know it."

ottawa is beautiful in spring...

rick in a pickle

imagine my surprise to find this tuesdays post (on pastor rick warren's decision to lie about his support of proposition 8) virtually duplicated on onenewsnow, the online conservative christian "news" site run by the american family association. they're not so happy to see the good pastor snuggle up to his homo friends.

"trying to save theirselves"

what sarah palin and her family are doing, according to levi johnston's sister. (levi is the father of bristol palin's son tripp.) johnston's mother says she was amazed to see her son "change a diaper and not be afraid..."

this is at the same time touching and appalling. heartwarming and laughable. genuine and...un-genuine. levi's actually much more well-spoken than i had imagined. but more than anything, i want you to see the sister's hair.

quote of the day

“He has a few weapons. I know he has a machine gun, I know he has a couple rifles and I know he has a couple handguns. They’re recreational and for deer hunting. I mean, he’s not a bad kid.”
– marianne klimczyk
aunt of richard poplawski
(poplawski, 22, is accused of using an assault rifle to fatally shoot three pittsburgh police officers last saturday morning in stanton heights, pa. under federal law, citizens may purchase long guns, including semiautomatic AK-47s, from private owners without acquiring a license and without registering the weapons. it is thought that poplawski obtained every weapon legally.)

thou shalt not bear false witness

i'm not sure what else you could make of rick warren's attempts to talk out of both sides of his mouth. here's a quote from warren monday night, on larry king live:
"I am not an anti-gay or anti-gay marriage activist. Never have been, never will be. During the whole proposition 8 thing I never once went to a meeting, never once issued a statement, never once even gave an endorsement in the two years prop 8 was going."
clear enough? "i never once even gave an endorsement in the two years prop 8 was going." nothing wishy-washy about that, right? now, watch:

more of rick warren's lies here.
